The Committee of Adjustment is established under the Planning Act to consider certain planning applications and make decisions on matters including:
- Minor variances to the Zoning By-law
- Extensions, enlargements, or variations to existing legal non-conforming uses
- Land division applications, including severances, lot additions, easements, mortgages, and leases over 21 years
- Determining whether a proposed use conforms with the Zoning By-law where permitted uses are defined in general terms
The County of Bruce Planning Department is responsible for the preparation of the planning reports and recommendations to the Committee for these applications.
The Committee consists of the seven members of Council and generally meets, as required, in conjunction with the Planning Council Meeting on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
