About the role:
The Landfill Worker plays a key role in the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operation of the Township's landfill site. Working closely with the Operator in Charge, you'll help ensure residents receive excellent service while supporting waste diversion and sustainability initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the day-to-day operations of the landfill site.
- Ensuring proper collection, sorting, and distribution of waste materials.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Assisting with site maintenance and equipment operation.
- Providing friendly, professional customer service to residents and visitors.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure efficient operations.
- Promoting safe practices and environmental stewardship throughout the site.
This position works 35 hours per week and includes the landfill's operating schedule of Monday through Saturday with two (2) days off per week. Saturdays are the landfill's busiest day and offer a unique opportunity to engage directly with residents, provide exceptional customer service, and support the community at a time when many property owners access the site.
We are looking for someone:
- Holds a valid Ontario Class G driver's license.
- Has a strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Takes pride in contributing to the community.
- Is interested in learning new skills and participating in training and development opportunities.
- Is open to cross-training and gaining experience in a variety of municipal operations.
- Has strong attention to detail and a commitment to responsible waste management.
- A DZ license would be considered an asset.

- Full-time permanent employment.
- An hourly rate of $26.10, with regular salary grid reviews.
- This position is part of a collective agreement with the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 793, which includes a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental coverage that is funded by the employer.
