About the Role: 

The Landfill Attendant is responsible for:

  • Providing front-line customer service by receiving fees, issuing receipts, and responding promptly and professionally to public inquiries and concerns.
  • Maintaining accurate financial and operational records by reconciling daily receipts, tracking waste origins, and documenting material volumes and sales.
  • Ensuring compliance with municipal policies and bylaws by inspecting and weighing incoming loads and verifying that materials are acceptable for disposal.
  • Directing customers to appropriate disposal areas and maintains detailed tracking systems for regulated items such as tires and tagged waste.
  • Supporting safe and efficient landfill operations by operating heavy equipment as required, collaborating with team members, and adhering to all health, safety, and corporate procedures.
  • The landfill hours of operation are: Monday, & Thursday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (noon); and, Tuesday, Friday & Saturday 10:00am – 4:00pm.

Who We're Looking For: 

  • Completion of a Secondary School Diploma and a valid driver’s license, with demonstrated reliability and responsibility in the workplace.
  • Proven experience providing excellent customer service, including the ability to handle cash transactions accurately and interact professionally with the public.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with basic software systems for record keeping, transaction processing, and data entry.
  • Well-developed mathematical, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable team player with strong communication skills, capable of working independently or collaboratively.
  • A safety-conscious individual with a strong work ethic.

What We Offer: 

  • An hourly rate of $25.40, with regular salary grid reviews.

  • A balanced work week of 35 hours that leaves plenty of room for a fulfilling life outside of work. Saturdays are part of the Landfill schedule.
