We're Recruiting!

Ripley Summer Sports Committee

The Ripley Summer Sports Committee is recruiting new members to join our team! Without our wonderful volunteers, Ripley Summer Sports wouldn't be able to offer the fantastic baseball and soccer programs we have. Ripley Summer Sports Committee meets about once a month and coordinates both Ripley Minor Baseball and Ripley Minor Soccer programs, as well as hosts the WOBA U9 Year End Tournament.

If you are interested in joining the Ripley Summer Sports Committee, please contact recreation@huronkinloss.com or call 519-395-2909. You can also approach a current Committee member.

Ripley Minor Soccer

Ripley Minor Soccer provides the opportunity for local youth to learn the fundamentals of soccer, participate in weekly games, make new friends each year and most importantly — have fun!

Our programs include Blastball, Under 6, Under 8, Under 10, Under 12 and Under 15 teams. The Under 6 players will be divided evenly into teams, practice and play inter-squad games at the Ripley Soccer Fields on Park St. Practices for U8 and above will be held at the Ripley Soccer Fields and games will be played against the many different Kincardine teams at either Kincardine or Ripley soccer fields. The Under 12 team plays in the Lakeshore Soccer League.

The soccer season starts in May, after the Victoria Day long weekend, and ends at the end of July. Come join the fun with our Ripley Minor Soccer teams! See below for program details.

Ripley Minor Soccer Divisions

Blastball is an introductory program where the basics of baseball (hitting, throwing, catching, and learning to run bases), and soccer (running, kicking, dribbling and aiming at a target) are introduced to kids ages 3-4 years old. Small groups of players and their parents rotate through stations that use various pieces of equipment to develop skills in a fun environment. Each week, half of the session is spent on baseball while the other half is spent on soccer. This is a great activity to expose your child to both team sports.

Blastball is held once per week on Monday evenings in a one-hour time slot. Coaches will lead the activities, but parents should come prepared to be active with their little athlete and take part in the program with them. Parent participation is necessary for the success of the program.

What is needed?

Dress your player for the weather, with shoes they can run in and bring a water bottle. All equipment is supplied. Cleats and baseball gloves are not needed at this level. A shirt, shorts, socks, and soccer ball will be provided through the TimBits program.

Coaching and organizing help are always appreciated. No baseball or soccer experience is necessary.

The season starts on May 25.

The key objectives are for each player to establish a basic understanding of the game and to get as many touches on the ball as possible — all through incorporating the element of FUN! U6 Soccer introduces the game play concepts and fundamental movement skills, builds physical literacy and coordination central ingredients, as well as specific skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting. Practices will be played at the Ripley Soccer Fields, and there will be inter-squad games scheduled by the coaches.

Practices are Mondays, 5:30-6:30pm, from May 25 to end of July.
